Pond Fishing Boats

Choosing the right pond fishing boat can determine whether you have a fun fishing trip, or one that goes down in the log books as things to avoid. Here are a few tips to help you out.
First, figure out what is around the pond. If it is clean, no chemicals being dumped onto the grass, no chemical plants in the area, etc, you can get away with using a float tube. These are inflatable, small craft that you sit on top of, or inside of, and use a pair of paddles to get yourself around the pond or lake. I like using them on long camping trips, usually in clearer water. I have a phobia about water that I can see what’s coming in.
Canoes are another great way to get on the water at your favorite pond. You can load down a few fishing buddies in one, and get around fairly well. Pack up an anchor to keep yourself put on windier days, and you should be good. You have to pay attention though, because canoes are known to be tippy. Once you flip one, you will learn where the threshold is. Canoes are usually used on bigger ponds and smaller lakes.
Kayaks are becoming a very popular way to get on the water. You can pick up a cheap one for around $200 with a paddle and vest, figure another $100. You can throw a kayak on top of your car and go, and rig it with a lot of other fishing options. Inflatable kayaks will work for you as long as you pay attention to where your hooks land. Keep a pump with you, because when you get on the cool water, your inflatable will start to deflate.
