Fishing In A Pond
Make sure before fishing in a pond, that it is clean before hand, no fertilizers or pesticides. As long as this is a go, here are a few types of species you can eat out of a pond.
A few types of table fare can be had from fishing in a pond, but make sure that the pond you are going to be fishing in is clean. By this, I mean that there are no fertilizers, or pesticides used on the land around the water. Fish absorb these chemicals, especially catfish. I am going to assume that you know what each type of fish looks like.
Panfish – Bluegills, crappie, perch, sunfish, bream, whatever you want to call them, they make very good table fare. Hence the name, panfish. They are great for frying, and are perfect size for the pan. Filet them down both sides, and toss them in some oil with some breading. Mmm.
Bass – While I don’t prefer to eat bass, people around me tell me that it is one of the best fish. I am not brave enough to try, but I do enjoy catching them. From what I have heard though, you can fry these up like other sunfish. They are in the sunfish family, after all.
Catfish – Yes, everybodies favorite freshwater species. You can load up a cooler full of 12″ catfish to take home for the table. Filet them down both sides, bread them up, and throw in some salt and pepper. MMmm very good dinner for all. So the next time you are fishing in a pond for dinner, think about these 3 species. They are great tasting!
